Structural Design Brief
Reworking of North West Electricity Board building built in 1963.
Transformer hall into Clockwise co-working club lounge.
Careful investigations and modification of tunnels and critical infrastructure.
Breathing life back into this tired 1960’s frame was no simple task. With limited record information to work from, we knew that a complex network of below ground infrastructure had to be retained and protected during the works.
Working around this we performed extensive investigations to enable the former transformer hall to be connected to the ground plane and identified opportunities for easy removal of structure to open up the internal layouts.
